Environmental CoursesTo become a marine biologist, you must first obtain a bachelor of science degree from a reputable university such as the University of British Columbia. The degree must have a number of courses as outlined by the professional organization that you want to apply too. In British Columbia, Canada, a marine biologist is expected to take courses that are required by the College of Applied Biology in order to apply and become a Biologist in Training (BIT). In addition, the professional is expected to conintue their education each year to maintain their professional status. Courses from institutions like Vancouver Island University offer courses in sediment and erosion control, environmental monitoring, and riparian areas regulation. Below is a list of possible universities and courses that might be acceptable.
